# Email not arriving? What to check

If mail stops reaching an address on your domain, check these four things in order. You can check each one in your control panel. Email is included on Simple and Business. Starter has no email.

## Before you start

- Send a test message from another address, such as a personal one, and note the time.
- Open your control panel. See [How to open your control panel](/knowledgebase/open-hosting-panel/).
- Have the address that isn't getting mail ready.

## Check 1: Is the mailbox full?

1. Open **Emails**.
2. Find the address and check the **MAILBOX USAGE** bar. Hover over it to see the number. You can also open the three-dot menu, select **Manage**, and check **Mailbox size**.
3. If it is full, delete old mail or move to a larger mail option. See [Is there a mailbox storage limit?](/knowledgebase/is-there-a-mailbox-storage-limit/)

## Check 2: Does your domain's DNS have the mail records?

1. Open **Websites** and select your site.
2. Open **Domains**, then the three-dot menu next to the domain, then **Manage**.
3. Look under **DNS records** for your domain's mail records.
4. If you see "Your domain's DNS is hosted externally.", copy the mail records shown there to your registrar or other DNS host.

DNS changes can take from a few minutes up to 24 to 48 hours. See [Point your domain at Get Simple](/knowledgebase/point-your-domain/).

## Check 3: Is mail routing set to this hosting?

1. On the same **Manage** page, find **Mail routing settings**.
2. Make sure **Local mail** is selected, so mail is delivered to your mailboxes here.

**Remote mail** sends your domain's mail to another email service instead. Only pick it if you use one.

## Check 4: Is the address forwarding instead of storing mail?

1. Open **Emails**, then the three-dot menu next to the address, then **Manage**.
2. Open **Forwarders**. If a forwarding address is listed, mail to this address is forwarded there.
3. If the address was changed with **Convert to forwarder-only**, it no longer stores mail. Messages go only to the forwarding address.

## Still not arriving?

Open a ticket from [Get Help](/knowledgebase/get-help/). Tell us the address, the address you sent the test from, and the time you sent it.

## FAQ

### My mail goes to the recipient's spam folder. Is that the same problem?

No. That is about mail you send. See [Why is my email going to the spam folder?](/knowledgebase/why-is-my-e-mail-is-going-to-the-bulk-or-spam-folder/)

### I forgot the mailbox password. How do I sign in?

Set a new one in your control panel. See [Reset a password for your account, email or database](/knowledgebase/reset-a-password/).

### Mail works in webmail but not on my phone. What now?

Make sure your phone uses the server shown under **Email client settings** on the mailbox's **Manage** page, your full email address as the username, and the current mailbox password. See [Create your first email account](/knowledgebase/first-email/).
