# Set up your email on your phone or in Outlook

You can read and send your domain email from your phone, Outlook or any other mail app. Your control panel shows the settings to enter. Email is included on Simple and Business. Starter has no email.

## Before you start

- Create the mailbox first. See [Create your first email account](/knowledgebase/first-email/).
- Know the mailbox password. Forgot it? See [Reset a password for your account, email or database](/knowledgebase/reset-a-password/).
- Open your control panel. See [How to open your control panel](/knowledgebase/open-hosting-panel/).

## Step 1: Find your settings

1. Open **Emails**.
2. Open the three-dot menu next to the address and select **Manage**.
3. Open **Email client settings**. The table shows the **Protocol**, **Server**, **Port**, **SSL/TLS** and **Username** for each setting.

Keep this page open. You'll copy the server name from it. Use the server shown in Email client settings for both incoming and outgoing mail, and your full email address as the username.

## Step 2: Choose IMAP or POP

- **IMAP** (port 993) keeps your mail on the server, so your phone, computer and webmail all show the same messages. Pick IMAP if you use more than one device.
- **POP** (port 995) downloads mail to one device.

## Step 3: Add the account in your mail app

Most mail apps, including Outlook and the mail apps on iPhone and Android, let you add an account by hand. Look for an option such as manual setup, advanced setup or IMAP.

Enter:

- Email address: your full address
- Incoming mail server: the server shown for IMAP or POP under **Email client settings**
- Incoming type and port: IMAP on port 993, or POP on port 995, with SSL/TLS on
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): the server shown for SMTP under **Email client settings**
- Outgoing port: 465 with SSL/TLS, or 587 with STARTTLS
- Username: your full email address, for both incoming and outgoing
- Password: the mailbox password

Save the account and send yourself a test message.

## If it doesn't connect

- **Password rejected:** make sure you used the full email address as the username. Still rejected? Set a new mailbox password, then enter it in the app.
- **Server not found:** copy the server name exactly from **Email client settings**.
- **Certificate warning:** don't accept it. Check the server name matches **Email client settings** exactly. Still warned? Open a ticket from [Get Help](/knowledgebase/get-help/).
- **Mail sends but never arrives:** see [Email not arriving? What to check](/knowledgebase/email-not-arriving/).

Need mail right now? Use the **Webmail** button at the top of **Emails** and sign in with your full address and mailbox password.

## FAQ

### Can I use the same mailbox on my phone and my computer?

Yes. Use IMAP on both so they stay in step.

### Which outgoing port should I use?

Port 465 with SSL/TLS, or port 587 with STARTTLS. Use the one your app offers.

### I changed my mailbox password. Why did my phone stop getting mail?

Your phone still has the old password. Enter the new one in your mail app's account settings.
