This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information for our websites, client area, and hosting-related services (the “Services”). It is part of the Terms of Service (the “Agreement”). The Acceptable Use Policy is also part of your agreement with us.
It covers information we collect about account holders, visitors to getsimple.net, and billing users. It does not make us the owner of data you place on your own hosted sites.
1. Two kinds of data
Account data. Information about you as our customer or as a visitor to our sites (name, email, billing details, tickets, logs). We decide how that account data is used to run the Services.
Hosted content. Data you or your users put on sites, mail, or apps that run on the Services. You control that content. We access, copy, or disclose it only to provide the Services, to secure the platform, to follow the Agreement or AUP, or to follow law. We do not use hosted content for our marketing.
This Policy is not a GDPR Article 28 data-processing agreement. If a privacy law requires a separate processor contract, that contract exists only if we sign it.
2. Information we collect
You give us: name, organization, address, email, phone, account credentials, payment details (handled by our payment processor), domain names, ticket contents, and files you upload to us.
We collect automatically: IP address, device and browser data, timestamps, pages viewed, referral source, cookie identifiers, security and fraud signals, and server, mail, and access logs.
Others give us: payment-processor results, registrar/registry status, abuse or copyright complaints, and information from security or CAPTCHA vendors.
We do not ask for full payment-card numbers on our own forms. Card data is collected by the payment processor.
3. Cookies and similar tools
We use cookies, pixels, and similar tools.
- Essential — login, session, security, load balancing, fraud checks, checkout.
- Security / CAPTCHA — abuse and bot checks on forms and login.
- Analytics — use of the marketing site, if enabled.
- Advertising — measurement or ads on the marketing site, if enabled (including tools such as Google or Bing).
Essential and security tools are required for the Services to work. Analytics and advertising tools on the marketing site can be limited through browser settings, industry opt-out tools, and any consent tool we actually display. We do not use a cookie sentence as proof that a banner exists. If no banner is shown, use browser controls.
Do not rely on third-party cookies inside the client area for advertising.
4. How we use account data
We use account data to:
- create and run accounts, host services, register or transfer domains, and bill you;
- provide support and security;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and AUP violations;
- send service mail (invoices, renewals, security, legal notices);
- measure and improve the marketing site;
- follow law and enforce the Agreement.
We may send product or renewal mail to the account email. You can ask us to stop marketing mail. You cannot opt out of transactional or legal notices while the account exists.
5. How we share information
We share account data with vendors who help us run the Services: infrastructure and platform providers, domain registrars and registries, certificate authorities, payment processors, email and DNS vendors, security and CAPTCHA vendors, analytics or advertising vendors on the marketing site, and professional advisers.
We share when law, legal process, or an upstream provider requires it, or when we reasonably believe we must protect the platform, our rights, or other customers.
We do not sell personal information for money.
The marketing site may use analytics or advertising cookies. Some state laws treat that as a “sale” or “share.” If that law applies to you, open a Legal ticket and say you want to opt out of sale/share. We will not discriminate against you for that request.
We do not use hosted content to train public AI models.
6. Retention
Account and billing records are kept while the account is open and for a period after close as needed for tax, dispute, security, and legal records.
Hosted content is kept while the Service runs. After suspension or termination it may be deleted as stated in the Agreement (generally eligible for permanent deletion after 30 days, sooner if law or the AUP requires). We have no duty to keep a copy after that.
Logs are kept for a limited operational period unless a security or legal matter requires longer.
7. Security and incidents
We use commercially reasonable measures for the systems we control. No method is 100% secure. You are responsible for your passwords, access, and the security of software you install.
If a security incident affecting account data must be notified under applicable law, we will notify the account email as that law requires. That sentence is not a promise of a fixed deadline or of notification for every event.
8. Your choices and state-law rights
You may update account data in the client area: https://billing.getsimple.net (also https://getsimple.net/secure/).
You may request access, correction, or deletion of account data we control, subject to law and to records we must keep. Open a Legal ticket. We will verify the request. We may refuse a request that is unlawful, abusive, or that would break the Services or our records duties.
If a U.S. state privacy law applies to you, you may also have rights to know, correct, delete, or opt out of sale/share, and to appeal a denial. Send the appeal through the same Legal ticket channel within 30 days. We will answer as that law requires. Authorized agents must show authority.
These rights apply to account data we control. They do not let a visitor to your site demand that we change data you host. That request goes to you.
9. Children
The Services are for adults and organizations. We do not knowingly collect account data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact Legal through the ticket link below and we will delete it.
10. International visitors
We operate in the United States. If you access the Services from elsewhere, you understand account data is processed in the United States and in other places our vendors use.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy. The new version is posted at https://getsimple.net/privacy-policy/ with a new date. Material changes will also be emailed to the account or posted in the client area when the Agreement requires it. Use after the effective date is acceptance.
