NVMe vs SSD shared hosting

“SSD hosting” is table stakes. What you want to know is whether your site files and database sit on drives that keep up when traffic and admin tools spike together.

Plain-language difference

  • Typical SATA SSD: Flash storage with no moving parts. Still a common “SSD shared hosting” baseline.
  • NVMe SSD: Connects over PCIe instead of the older SATA interface, so it handles many small reads at once, which helps database driven sites like WordPress and Joomla.

Simple Source shared plans use NVMe SSD storage sized on each plan (10 / 25 / 50 GB). Our WordPress and Joomla plans use the same NVMe SSD storage.

What this means when you compare hosts

If a comparison table asks “NVMe or SSD?”, the honest answer for getsimple.net shared plans is NVMe SSD. If a host only says “SSD,” ask which kind. Speed marketing without a storage type is hard to verify.

See plans above, or the same stack thinking on LiteSpeed Hosting and the home page (container isolation + NVMe).

NVMe SSD on every shared plan

Some hosts advertise NVMe on the homepage and put the entry plan on older SATA SSD. Here, every plan shown on this site, from Starter to Business, uses NVMe SSD storage. You choose a plan for its disk and RAM, not to unlock faster drives.

Each plan hosts one site with its own set disk and RAM, and runs on LiteSpeed Web Server with LSCache. If your site needs more room, ask us and we will move you to a bigger plan at its listed price.

How to choose SSD shared hosting

Most shared plans look alike on a features list. These five checks tell them apart:

  • Storage type. Check that the plan you buy uses NVMe SSD, not only the higher tiers. If a plan only says SSD, ask which kind.
  • Renewal price. Compare what you pay in year two, not only the first month.
  • Resources per site. Look for set disk and RAM, and check how many sites the plan allows.
  • Backups. Ask how often backups run, where they are kept, and for how long.
  • Support. Ask a real question before you buy and see who answers.

Here, every shared plan uses NVMe SSD storage, hosts one site with set disk and RAM, and keeps the same price at renewal. Verified 501(c)(3) organizations can get 10% off with our nonprofit web hosting discount.

Container isolation on shared plans

Classic shared hosting puts many sites on one environment where a noisy neighbor can steal CPU and make your site feel random.

Container isolation gives each site its own set disk and RAM, so a busy neighbor is less likely to slow your pages.

What you get in practice

  • Your site runs in an isolated environment rather than a pure free-for-all shared pool.
  • Resources are protected so another customer’s spike is less likely to flatten your pages.
  • Free SSL on every plan, and off-server backups kept for 30 days.

LiteSpeed on shared hosting plans

Shared hosting is more than storage. The web server and cache layer decide how dynamic sites behave when visitors arrive together.

Every Simple Source shared plan runs on LiteSpeed Web Server. It includes LiteSpeed caching. On WordPress and Joomla hosting plans, LSCache works through the matching plugin or extension.

What buyers should expect

  • LiteSpeed as the server on the plans shown above (not an upsell checkbox)
  • Caching at the stack level (LiteSpeed caching) so you are not stuck with a pile of conflicting cache plugins as your only option
  • The same modern performance direction as our LiteSpeed Hosting page, WordPress Hosting, and Joomla Hosting

Shared hosting FAQ

What is NVMe shared hosting?
NVMe shared hosting stores your site files on NVMe SSD drives, which read and write data faster than older hard drives.
How is this different from traditional shared hosting?
Plans use NVMe storage, LiteSpeed caching, and container isolation so your site is less affected by noisy neighbors than classic shared hosting.
Do you still use cPanel?
No. We use a modern control panel built to keep everyday tasks simple, like installing an app or choosing your PHP version.
Is migration free?
Yes. We move your site for you at no extra cost, on a best-effort basis.
How much does shared hosting cost?
Starter $10/mo, Simple $20 to $35/mo, and Business $49 to $135/mo. Each plan is one site. See Hosting plans: Starter, Simple, and Business.
What do I get on each plan?
Starter: 10 GB disk, 1 GB RAM, 0.5 vCPU, 1 staging copy, 1 TB fair-use bandwidth. Simple: 25 GB, 2 GB RAM, 1 vCPU, 2 staging copies, 3 TB. Business: 50 GB, 4 GB RAM, 2 vCPU, 3 staging copies, 8 TB fair-use. Addon domains are not included (0).
Is the renewal price higher?
No. The price on the plan is the renewal price. There is no introductory price.
Is email included with hosting?
Starter: no email. Bring your own. Simple includes 2 mailboxes, 5 GB each; upgrades to 5 or 10. Business includes 5 mailboxes, 5 GB each, with options up to 25 mailboxes at 10 GB each. A full mailbox is a mail upgrade, not a site-disk problem.
Can I host multiple sites on one plan?
No. Each plan is one site. If you need another site, order another plan.
I already host with you. Do I have to change plans?
You don’t need to do anything. If you already host with us, your client area shows your current plan and its renewal price. If your plan or price is changing, we tell you at least 30 days before your renewal. New-order plans are for new orders.
Do you offer unlimited bandwidth or unlimited sites?
No. Each plan lists its bandwidth, on a fair-use basis. Each plan is one site.
Is LiteSpeed included on shared plans?
Yes. Shared plans use LiteSpeed Web Server with LiteSpeed caching on the stack described on this page. For a deeper LiteSpeed vs Apache buyer guide, see LiteSpeed Hosting. For WordPress or Joomla, the matching LSCache plugin or extension is covered on WordPress Hosting and Joomla Hosting.
Is SSD shared hosting the same as NVMe shared hosting?
Both use solid state drives. NVMe connects over PCIe instead of the older SATA interface, so it handles many small reads at once, which helps database driven sites like WordPress and Joomla. Every shared plan shown on this site uses NVMe SSD storage.
Is shared hosting fast enough for WordPress or Joomla?
For most small business, nonprofit and organization sites, yes. LiteSpeed caching and NVMe SSD storage do most of the work, and each plan has set resources for its one site.
What if my site outgrows shared hosting?
Ask our 24/7/365 support team and we will move you to a bigger plan at its listed price.
How can I tell if a host uses NVMe or SATA SSD?
Check the details of the plan you would buy, not only the homepage. If a plan only says SSD, ask the host which kind. Every shared plan on this page lists NVMe SSD storage: 10 GB on Starter, 25 GB on Simple, and 50 GB on Business.
What are the disadvantages of shared hosting?
You share a server with other sites, so you get set resources rather than a whole machine. Here, each site runs in an isolated container with set disk and RAM, so a busy neighbor is less likely to slow you down. A site that outgrows its plan needs a bigger one. Each plan hosts one site, we do not use cPanel, and Starter has no email.
